Use of Hyperbaric Chambers for Improving Health

The second benefit that immediately became evident was the use of mild hyperbaria for improvements in health and in the treatment of various conditions. In my clinic I was able to use the chamber as a therapy and see how different patients responded. In addition to improved oxygenation, I observed many other healthy changes, from greater vital capacity (improved lung function) and improved pH to muscle balance and increased range of motion. As such, I began using the mild hyperbaric chamber on patients with a variety of problems, including those seeking to lose weight (the increased oxygenation improved fat burning), children and adults with brain injury, those with muscle problems, patients with sleep apnea, and many others.

Traditionally, large metal hyperbaric chambers of very high pressure and added oxygen have been used for decades as first aid. The most common applications include treatment of scuba divers and pilots for decompression sickness resulting from too rapid or extreme a change in pressure exerted on the body. In addition, patients with heart problems, chronic infections, severe burns, and many other aliments have also been treated successfully in these types of hyperbaric chambers.
