Experimentation

Some people may effectively determine the need for a dietary supplement through careful experimentation. A health-care professional might conclude, after evaluating you, that you have a need for a particular nutrient. But the best indication that you need a particular nutrient is if taking it improves some aspect of body function. An improvement of body chemistry most likely will also improve some aspect of your endurance. This may include the successful treatment of a particular problem, such as fatigue or asthma, or the elimination of an abnormal finding in a blood test or other evaluation, such as an abnormal C-reactive protein test (a measure of chronic inflammation). In some cases, a particular supplement can help improve your MAF Test. For example, an iron or vitamin B2 deficiency can significantly reduce aerobic function. In this case, taking an iron supplement can help get more oxygen to the aerobic muscles to burn more fat. In a short period, your MAF Test could noticeably improve. However, taking iron when your body does not need it can be harmful

In almost all cases, seeing some improvement from a particular supplement may occur within a relatively short time. If you have exercise-induced asthma and want to see if the nutrient choline can help improve your symptoms, taking this supplement for a month or two will almost always either help or do nothing. If it helps, you may want to continue taking it while you also consume more foods high in this nutrient (in this case the best food source is egg yolks).
