Finding Your Proper Fit
Optimal shoe fit may be difficult for some people, while others have an easy time. While there’s a subjective component to shoe fit, other factors are more concrete. You can’t predict your size based on previous shoes with specific sizes as shoes between companies can be very different, and even the same shoe in one company can vary in size. This means it’s difficult to get the proper fit without actually trying them on and walking in them.
Research from the Battelle Institute shows there are at least thirty-eight factors that influence shoe fit. In addition to length, width, and height, there are many subjective factors, especially those related to feel. This makes most shoes difficult to fit properly. The subjective opinions and attitudes come from both consumer and salesperson, but ultimately you determine if the shoe fits.
