Sources of Vitamin D

There are five sources of vitamin D available for athletes. Our primary source comes from the sun, with foods providing small amounts. Fortified foods such as milk and many processed foods are not a good source. Dietary supplements are the most viable option for those requiring more, and artificial light can also be a source of vitamin D for those in colder climates where optimal sun exposure is limited.
