无论采取哪种方法将集体智慧融入企业的结构中,关键的前提是它使企业能够充分发挥其生态系统的知识资本对于动态地应对业务挑战的潜力。麻省理工学院集体智慧中心的Tom Malone、Robert Laubacher和Chrysanthos Dellarocas在2009年的一篇文章中指出:“早期通过Web实现集体智慧的例子并没有结束,而是刚刚开始。随着计算和通信能力持续改进,在未来几十年内,这样的例子将会有很多。”16
